If you die having left a deferred pension in the Scheme...
A pension would be payable to your Spouse or Civil partner, if you ceased to be in service after 24th June 1996.
The pension payable to a surviving Spouse or Civil partner will normally be equal to 2/3rds of your Deferred pension at the date of your death
If you ceased to be in service before 24th June 1996, your Spouse or Civil partner may be entitled to a Guaranteed Minimum Pension (GMP).
A lump sum may be payable, usually based on the contributions you have made during your membership
In all cases, you must check the specific details of your benefits with the Pensions Administration Team. The rules that apply to you may differ from other members because of the date you left the Scheme or your individual circumstances.
