Join the Trustee Board: apply now to be the Fund’s next Trustee Director

Do you want to be involved in running the Fund? The Trustee is inviting applications from members to serve as one of the Fund’s next Trustee Directors for an initial term of four years.

Currently, the Trustee Board is made up of 10 Trustee Directors, who are responsible for ensuring that the Fund continues to be run well and managed to a high standard.

Who can apply

All eligible member can apply to be a Trustee Director, regardless of background, and support and training will be provided to the successful applicant.

If you are passionate and enthusiastic about how your Fund is run and believe you have something to bring, then this is a great opportunity to get involved in a role that makes a positive difference!

What’s required

As a Trustee Director you will help ensure the Fund is run in line with the Trust Deed & Rules, ensuring members’ benefits are financially secure and serving members well.

We’re looking for applicants who:

  • Have a genuine interest in the Fund,
  • Have time to get involved,
  • Can put forward their views and contribute to discussions,
  • Know how to manage conflicts of interest,
  • Have the ability to make reasoned decisions,
  • Have an interest in investment and finance, governance and legal frameworks, communications and member services.
  • As part of your role, you’ll also be required to prepare for, travel and attend meetings in Edinburgh or London in accessible locations. The Trustee Board meets formally at least four times a year. Each sub-committee also meets at least four times a year, and there are also a number of other working groups. Extra meetings may be convened and when required.

    You don’t need extensive knowledge of pension matters as you’ll receive training and guidance. You just need to be eager to learn!

    The Pensions Regulator (TPR) has also set up a free e-learning programme called the Trustee Toolkit, available at www.trusteetoolkit.com, which includes other useful resources about the role of Trustee Directors.

    If you would like to nominate yourself, please complete the online application form using the security codes in the invitation letter or email sent to you by the Trustee.

    Please note: your nomination must be submitted by 5pm on 31 January 2024.
